After almost a decade on the road, Sam Altman has announced his departure from The Disco Biscuits. Altman will exchange his drum sticks for a stethoscope and continue his medical education. The Disco Biscuits will continue on, however, with a yet-to-be-announced additional drummer. The Disco Biscuits current lineup will play out its remaining tour dates, including an appearance at AmsterJam this March. Altman’s last show on American soil will take place at the Hammerstein Ballroom this New Years Eve.
While not an officially on hiatus, The Disco Biscuits have been off the road for much of 2004, perusing a variety of personal and musical pursuits.
There is no word yet on who the group has tapped as Altman’s replacements. The Ally’s Mike Greenfield and The Duo’s Joe Russo are along the percussionists who have played with The Disco Biscuits in their individual side projects.
