Umphreys McGee and Tea Leaf Greens national tours intersected at South Burlington, VTs Higher Ground for a concert which featured a ticket, merchandise and pass Relief Drive to aid the victims of hurricane Katrina. During Umphreys McGees performance , a number of Burlington favorites also filtered onstage to offer the Chicago-sextet an official Green Mountain greeting. Partway through the groups first set, saxophonist Dave Grippo and trumpeter Jen Hartswick appeared during Big Heart. Next guitarist Seth Yacavone helped the group close out its set with Thin Air. Grippo returned during the groups second set opener for Umphreys McGees trademark Wife Soup while Hartswick helped the group through its debut performance of Bill Withers Ain’t No Sunshine. Yacavone also guested on Umphreys McGees first cover of JJ Cale’s Cocaine since September 10, 2003. Umphreys McGee and Tea Leaf Green will tour in tandem to Northampton, MAs Pearl Street Ballroom for performances tomorrow.
