The Georgia-based project that began as Bruce Hampton & Friends, has taken on a new name and will take to the road as well. Col. Bruce & The Quark Alliance is a quartet that also features principal songwriter Jeff Caldwell on guitar and vocals, Kris Dale on bass and Mark Letalien on drums. The group is in Canton, GA at the Downtown Kitchen this Saturday February 3 and next Friday February 9. Then in March the Quark Alliance will begin to make the rounds with a number of dates, including appearances in Little Rock, AR (March 2, Sticky Fingerz), Fayetteville, AR (March 3, George’s Majestic) and Charleston, SC (March 30, The Pour House). The documentary that focuses on the life and music of Hampton, Basically Frightened, is due out later this year.
