This past weekend in Mariaville, NY, Max Creek hosted the 22nd installment of its Camp Creek. The group closed out the main stage on both Saturday and Sunday while inviting many of the festivals performers to join them during those sets. Saturday nights performance saw Jeff Pevar, who had appeared with Creeks Scott Murawski in their Guitarness project on Friday night, with the band for much of the second set and encores, including takes on Long Train Runnin’, Something Is Forming, That’s All Right Mama and Werewolves Of London (with Pevar on lap steel for the final two tunes). Also on Saturday, Gordon Stone added pedal steel to Baby Please Don’t Go, Truck Driving Man and You Let Me Down Again. The next evening, longtime Creek associate Barry Seelen contributed keyboards to much of Creeks lone set while Flipper Daves Brett Connors lent his acoustic guitar to Mystery Train, Toad and The Bug while Tor Krautter (Reverend Tor) joined in on a few songs such as Lawyers, Guns And Money, Come Together and Just A Rose.
Meanwhile the Ryan Montbleau Band also availed themselves of the setting by bringing out a few guests as well. During their Saturday afternoon set, the group invited the Depth Quartet’s Julie Avallone to join in on flute for a version of Paul Simon’s ‘Duncan’ and then on saxophone for the Montbleau original ‘Draw the Line.’ Later, Rolla guitarist/vocalist Fuzz stepped up on guitar for ‘A Way With Women’ and ‘Honeymoon Eyes.’ Later that evening, Montbleau guested during Sam Kininger Bands late night set, adding vocals to Sly & the Family Stone’s ‘If You Want Me to Stay’ and Stevie Wonder’s ‘Jesus Children of America,’ both which also featured Peter Prince & Moon Boot Lover’s Eric Imbrosciano on drums.
