A campaign is now under way to prevent the closure of Mill Valley, CAs Sweetwater Saloon. Over the past thirty years, the venue has hosted appearances by numerous notable artists, including: John Lee Hooker, Willie Dixon, Jerry Garcia, the first pairing of Bob Weir and Rob Wasserman, Carlos Santana, Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt and most recently, Phil Lesh & Friends. The Sweetwaters current owners have been given a 30-day notice by their landlord to vacate the premises in order to make repairs that will in turn require a substantial rent increase to offset these expenses. A website has been established, Savethesweetwater.com to draw together supporters in an effort to alter the present course of action, via petitions and a letter-writing effort.
