In March of 2006 Les Claypool premiered his directorial film debut, Electric Apricot: Quest For Festeroo. Earlier this year, National Lampoon acquired rights to the film and it will screen nationwide on November 9. More than 25 theaters will show the mockumentary on November 9 and 10, from the Brattle in Cambridge, MA to the Carmike 12 in Corvallis, OR. Electric Apricot, which Claypool likens more to The Office than to Spinal Tap is described as follows: In the Spring of 2005, Les Claypool set forth to make a documentary reflecting an element of contemporary music culture which had yet to be fully examined. The notion was to capture something raw and original. Les searched for something unpretentious and genuine and he yearned to make a film that would stand out from other music documentaries. Who he found was Electric Apricot and what he achieved was enlightenment. Unexpectedly, while searching for enlightenment the duality of existence was unveiled. The film features cameos from Bob Weir, Mike Gordon, Warren Haynes, Seth Green, Matt Stone and Trey Parker.
