After months of buildup, Led Zeppelin performed for the first time since May 14, 1988 at London’s O2 Arena this evening. The legendary rock trio, aided by John Bonham’s son Jason on drums, took the stage at 9 PM and opened with ‘Good Times, Bad Times,’ from their self-titled debut, before diving into Ramble On, Black Dog, ‘In My Time of Dying,’ Trampled Underfoot,’ ‘Nobody’s Fault But Mine,’ ‘No Quarter,’ ‘Since I’ve Been Lovin’ You,’ ‘Dazed and Confused,’ ‘Stairway To Heaven’ (which was rarely played near the end of the groups tenure), ‘The Song Remains the Same,’ ‘Misty Mountain Hop, ‘Kashmir’ and encores of ‘Whole Lotta Love’ and ‘Rock and Roll.’ In addition, the group offered the first live reading of ‘For Your Life’ from 1976s Presence. A group of select fans were also allowed to watch Led Zeppelins soundcheck at the O2 Arena on Sunday.
Led Zeppelins performance was part of a tribute to Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun and featured performances by Foreigner, founding Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman and Paolo Nutini, among others. The group will likely play a series of shows in the United States this summer.
