Russia’s Auktyon has been one of the best-known Eastern European art rock bands for more than two decades. The group first came together in 1978, took on its present name in 1983 and the core of the current nine-piece line-up, which melds free jazz, world beat and performance art, was first assembled in 1986. The group will begin an eight date U.S. tour on March 20 in Washington DC at The State Theater. Two days later, Auktyon will travel to New York City for a performance at Irving Plaza that will feature guest appearances by John Medeski and Marc Ribot. Then after a stop in Boston on the 25th, Auktyon will travel to the west, closing out its run in Los Angeles in April 1.
