To mark the 5th Anniversary of the Iraq War, a number of activists and artists came together last night at Brooklyn’s St. Anne’s Warehouse. Richard Belzer and Laura Flanders hosted Speak Up! A Benefit Concert for Peace in IRAQ and Justice at Home. Lou Reed opened the show with a version of the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ that also featured Laurie Anderson, Moby, Antony and Mike Rathke. David Byrne later performed ‘Ain’t Got So Far to Go’ and ‘One Fine Day’ with Damien Rice, Norah Jones, Ana Matronic and Paul Frazier. Jones, Anderson, Moby, Scissor Sisters and Blonde Redhead were among those who performed brief sets. The evening later concluded with Reed performing ‘Christmas in February’ and ‘Voices of Freedom,’ with a number of the evening’s participants then emerging for a ‘Voices of Freedom’ encore, including Belzer, Moby, Jones, Anderson and Rice.
