Earlier this year, the Derek Trucks Band supported Derek Trucks Band supported Santana for a few dates on the Shamans summer arena tour. Last night, Carlos Santana returned the favor in a far more intimate setting when Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschis Soul Stew Revival popped into his one of his neighborhood venues, San Francisco Nob Hill Masonic Center. Partway through the groups set, Santana took the stage with the group for a version of Allen Toussaints ‘Hercules that spiraled into a freeform jam. Trucks and Tedeschi will play San Diego, CAs Humphrey’s Concerts By The Bay this evening, while Santana will hit the road for his next tour September 6 at Auburn, WAs White River Amphitheater.
