Widespread Panic was forced to temporally stop its performance at St. Augustine, FLs Saint Augustine Amphitheatre last night due to a crowd disturbance. According to reports, the incident stemmed from a few fans hazing a concertgoer wearing a Boston Red Sox hat and quickly escalated into a scuffle in the middle of Tie Your Shoes (with one fan reportedly throwing an object onstage and some younger conertgoers finding themselves endangered). Panic paused its performance to allow security to deal with the situation, before resuming the show and segueing into Ride Me High.
The incident put a damper on an otherwise successful run through the South. The previous two nights Widespread Panic headlined North Charleston, SCs North Charleston Coliseum. DJ Logic opened both shows and, as expected, sat in with the evenings marquee act. On Friday, Logic appeared Dyin’ Man at the end of the groups first set, spun between sets and later joined the sextet for a jam leading into Better Off at the start of Panics second set. The DJ offered similar segues on Saturday and also joined the group during one of its regular drum segments. Widespread Panic will appear at Miami, FLs The Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theatre tomorrow.
