The 51st Grammy Awards will take place this Sunday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. One of the musical segments on the show, which will air on CBS starting at 8PM, will focus on New Orleans music and culture. The core group for this segment will be the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. The Dozen will back a number of artists in this portion of the show, which will draw together various generations of Crescent City performers, including Lil’ Wayne and Robin Thicke, Allen Touissaint, and Terence Blanchard. Tonight, the DDBB performs the first of two shows with Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue at The Independent in San Francisco.
