Jon Fishman paid a visit to Richmond Heights, MOs Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments yesterday on a day off from Phish tour. The drummer stopped by the centers new facility with Phish Security Director John Langenstein and Mimi Fishman Foundation Executive Director David Shulman to dedicate a new music room in honor of the Fishmans mother Mimi (the room is now called the Mimi Fishman Music Therapy Room). During the visit, the trio also observed two music therapy classes for children served by the Center. Fishman participated in the therapy classes including leading the children in a drum circle and song. The visit concluded with the Phish co-founder handing a $20,000 donation from the Foundation to the Center. Combined with $10,000 raised for Phishs Waterwheel Foundation in late May, the Mimi Fishman Foundation has now issued grants and donations totaling over $331,000 in the last 10 years.
