Art by Terrible Portraits
Wilco will return to the road this spring. The band, known for two decades of evocative, unvarnished lyrics, has announced a 10-city tour that will begin in Fort Wayne, Ind., on April 23. The band’s imminent run arrives after frontman Jeff Tweedy’s latest solo endeavor, the release of his fifth independent album, Twilight Override, a three-part reflection on the past, present, and future that takes into account the grim state of reality while providing a pillar of support for the darkest of days.
After submitting their first night on tour, which the band describes as “two full sets, one intermission, all Wilco, all night long,” they will take their knack for pulling heartstrings to the Old National Events Plaza in Evansville, Ind., on April 24. Wilco’s newly released spring schedule includes follow-ups in Jackson, Miss., and Mobile, Ala., before their Big Easy arrival and subsequent two-night Saenger Theatre stand, April 30 and May 1.
On the other side of the band’s time in New Orleans, they will proceed with an evening at The Momentary in Bentonville, Ark., on May 2. The Chicago band will continue with regional stops, including May 4 at the Stiefel Theatre in Salina, Kan., May 5 at Jones Assembly in Oklahoma City, Okla., and a May 6 appearance at Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts in Lubbock, Texas.
Wilco’s final performance during this block of tour dates will result in a campus concert at the University of New Mexico’s Popejoy Hall on May 8. After turning in their “An Evening with Wilco” concert series, the beloved group will prepare for the return of their highly anticipated Solid Sound Festival in North Adams, Mass., on June 26-27.
