The Caverns Sessions will return to PBS for its 14th season on September 10, 2025. Considered one of public television’s longest-running music series, the program continues to delve into subterranean live shows at The Caverns in Grundy County, Tenn. The upcoming series will feature a diverse range of acts representing genres such as Americana, roots, country, and more.
The first episode will center on songs performed by Shakey Graves (Sept. 10), before Canadian indie powerhouse Ruby Waves takes the central slot the following week (Sept. 17). The series will continue with folk-punk stalwarts Violent Femmes (Sept. 24), followed by Grammy award-winning fiddler and practitioner of the bluegrass tradition, Bronwyn Keith-Hynes (Oct. 1). Relix cover artist and jamgrass connoisseurs, String Cheese Incident will take over next (Oct. 8), inviting viewers to take a deeper listen from the subsurface.
Bluegrass might continue with Armchair Boogie’s arrival and imminent release of their acoustic sound (Oct. 15), before the country rollick of The Oak Ridge Boys (Oct. 22). October’s final episode will spotlight Jesse Roper, before The SteelDrivers channel stories into songs (Nov. 5). Internal classics, The Headhunters will take the reigns (Nov. 12), followed by Buckethead (Nov. 19) and finally, country-informed Flatland Cavalry concludes the series (Nov. 26).
“Season after season, we’re reminded of how music and place shape one another,” says Todd Mayo, owner of The Caverns and co-founder of Todd Squared, LLC. “These performances aren’t just concerts—they’re moments suspended in stone and time, echoing from the artists to the audience and back again. That’s the enduring enchantment of The Caverns Sessions.”
“Season 14 continues our tradition of pairing extraordinary artistry with one of the most unique stages in the world,” says Todd Jarrell, producer of the series. “The diversity in genres of The Caverns Sessions offers a point of discovery for our audiences—here is music from the heart of the American experience.”
New episodes of The Caverns Sessions will air nationwide on PBS stations and stream on PBS.org and the PBS app for 30 days after each premiere. Check local listings for exact airdates and times.
