Hardly Strictly Bluegrass have delivered a windfall of final festival participants who signed up to perform during the October 4-6 gathering at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. The 24th annual occasion will boast 70 artists performing on six different stages. Also included in today’s announcement is a daily breakdown of the concert schedule, which sets forth a three-day forecast of music steeped in the tradition of bluegrass and beyond to showcase contemporary favorites such as the newly tacked-on artist additions. 

According to the official press release, joining the lineup on Friday, Oct. 2, are fresh faces such as Charlie Overbey, Lindsay Lou, The Milk Carton Kids and Viv & Riley. The aforementioned artists join the first-day roster, which includes previously announced talents such as Cat Power, who will deliver her 1966 Bob Dylan homage, and separate sets from Devendra Banhart, Glen Hansard, Ibibio Sound Machine, Jessica Pratt, Matt the Electrician, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, Sean McConnell, Sgt. Splendor, Sleater-Kinney, and special presentations billed as Songs from a Gravel Road: Kelly Willis, Chuck Prophet, Ismay & Steve Earle and Wonder Women of Country.

Saturday, Oct. 3, will see another heap of newly added names on the festival lineup, such as Alison Brown, Buddy Miller, Cunningham Bird, Dry Branch Fire Squad, Jackie Greene & Anders Osborne, Laurie Lewis & The Right Hands, Marco and The Polos, Moonalice, Nigel Wearne & The Spectres, Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band, Sam Reider and The Human Hands and Willi Carlisle. Those folks join already-announced acts such as Dave Alvin, Jimmie Dale Gilmore & The Guilty Ones, Fruition, Greensky Bluegrass, Levitation Room, Mavis Staples, Robyn Hitchcock and others. 

The event’s final day, Sunday, Oct. 4, includes a final offering of live entertainment from another batch of newly added musicians, including Abby Posner, Aoife O’Donovan, Cedric Burnside, James Hunter, Jon Muq and the great Patti Smith. Already featured on the final day bill are Alisa Amador, Bobby Rush, Big Star Quintet’s “Radio City” 50th Anniversary, Emmylou Harris, Tony Trischka’s Earl Jam, Rambling Jack Elliott, The Infamous Stringdusters, The Wood Brothers and Yo La Tengo, just to name a few.
