The Grateful Dead’s annual Meet-Up At The Movies event will return with another live concert experience on June 22 and 24. Presented by Rhino Entertainment and Trafalgar, the upcoming cinema event will showcase the band’s first-ever concert at Chicago’s Soldier Field on June 22, 1991.

Concert footage from the original six-camera stadium video feed has been paired with pristine soundboard audio to capture the essence of the players–Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann, Mickey Hart, with Bruce Hornsby and Vince Welnick.

The movie finds the band on stage a year after the passing of keyboardist Brent Mydland. Their return to the stadium circuit for the summer tour included both Hornsby and Welnick, who stepped in and filled the vacancy left in the wake of Mydland’s untimely death.

During the Dead’s June 22, 1991, show at Soldier Field, they ran through a selection of fan favorites ranging from an upbeat iteration of “Shakedown Street” to emotionally infused renditions of “Terrapin Station” and “Dark Star.”

“We are thrilled to partner with Rhino once again to bring the Grateful Dead ‘Meet-Up’ to movie theaters all around the world,” said Kymberli Frueh, SVP for Programming and Content Acquisitions for Trafalgar Releasing. “This is one of our most requested events and we are pleased to keep bringing Deadheads together in local cinemas year after year.”

This year’s occasion will also feature bonus content, including the Good Ol’ Grateful Deadcast Presents: Here Comes Sunshine 1973 and an introduction from Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux.
