Today, Nov. 15, MerleFest unveiled its initial 2023 musical lineup for the beloved Wilkesboro, N.C. festival. The forthcoming multi-day affair, which pays homage to its namesake, Eddy Merle Watson, will take place from April 27 through 30.
The musical event is scheduled to happen on the campus of Wilkesboro Community College, with featured performances by The Avett Brothers, Maren Morris and Black Opry Revue, along with MerleFest veterans like Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas and Peter Rowan.
Moreover, this year’s event marks the 35th edition of MerleFest. To celebrate the milestone occasion, the folks behind the festival will present its unique history with on-stage collaborations celebrating its founding folk icon. As a bonus, the 2023 edition will also feature a 100th birthday celebration for Doc Watson.
In addition to the previously mentioned musical guest, Andy May, Banknotes, Carol Rifkin, Charles Welch, Donna the Buffalo, Jack Lawerence, Jeff Little Trio, Jim Lauderdale, Joe Smothers, Kruger Brothers, and more have been added to the festival bill.
