Chicago’s newest festival SACRED ROSE has announced the plans for its inaugural event set to take place at the SeatGeek Stadium on Aug. 26-28. The festival aims to immerse fans in The Windy City’s diverse artistic legacy as a hub of jazz, blues, and rock-and-roll and has curated an eclectic lineup to that end.

SACRED ROSE’s name pays homage to the festival founder Michael Berg’s Grandfather, a professional and pianist, and the music and the Grateful Dead. The festival will welcome Grateful Dead founding member Phil Lesh, as well as beloved Grateful Dead cover band leader Joe Russo to the newly renovated stadiums, seven new astroturf fields and interactive art installations.

SACRED ROSE will host three genre-specific stages, each with a defined daily lineup organized, so each stage feels like its own nonstop concert. The nascent event wants festival-goers or “#RoseBuds” to have the option to truly choose their experience from psych-rock and jamband to Americana.

“In 2018, when we shifted North Coast from a multi-genre festival to a fully electronic music event, we started dreaming up SACRED ROSE and what it could mean for fans of Americana, Psych-rock, Jam, Indie, Soul, Funk and Bluegrass,” Berg said in a press release. “SACRED ROSE is the first festival of its kind in our area, and we’re so proud to deliver a special experience for our fans who have been patiently waiting for a lineup like this for a long time.”

In addition to Lesh and Russo, SACRED ROSE will welcome Khruangbin, The War On Drugs, Black Pumas, Umphrey’s McGee, Goose, STS9, Greensky Bluegrass, Kamasi Washington, Animal Collective, Margo Price, and many more to their three stages.

SACRED ROSE is going one step further with their lineup’s transparency by releasing daily stage lineups and set times before tickets go on sale. The details will be released on Friday, March 18, and tickets for the event will be on sale Monday, March 21 at noon CST. Additionally, SACRED ROSE will sell both full weekend, and single-day passes as soon as the marketplace is open.
