On Friday, Aug. 13 the French Quarter Festival announced they must cancel their event due to rising COVID cases and hospitalizations in Louisiana. The New Orleans festival was scheduled to happen on Sept. 30 through Oct. 3 after being postponed from its original set date back in April.

The festival wrote the following statement.

“As the state of Louisiana and our nation see a precipitous rise in COVID cases, we must put the health, safety and wellbeing of our entire family first — our fans, musicians, staff, volunteers, sponsors, and partners, as well as the residents and businesses in the French Quarter. It is with great sadness that we must cancel French Quarter Festival 2021 but look forward to celebrating next spring as we return to the stage April 21-24, 2022.”

This cancelation follows in the footsteps of Jazz Fest which postponed its events on Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021.
