Kevin Shapiro, Phish’s archivist, announced on Phish Radio through SiriusXM Monday, June 28, that Phish is planning to release a new archival set from their performance at the Key Arena, in Seattle, from Nov. 27, 1996.

They held down a steady and standard first set, and as they closed with a cover of Jimi Hedrix’s “Bold as Love” on his birthday in his hometown, the crowd knew this show was something special.

The second set of this historic show featured classics before they were classics – a bit unrefined but akin to an uncut gem. “Tweezer” into “Down With Disease” locked the band into the funky momentum they needed to close the set with their intention of honoring a guitar god. The final two songs were Hendrix’s “The Star-Spangled Banner” into “Fire.”

This new archival set will definitely be something to look forward to and happily back on.
