Legendary bassist George Porter Jr. has found himself at the intersection of art and technology, launching selling off an exclusive NFT, showcasing the art for his new album Crying For Hope.
For the uninformed, an NFT – or non-fungible token – is a one-of-a-kind piece of digital art that uses block chain technology to track its resale. So, if/when the piece or art is resold, the artist is automatically entitled to a percentage of that resale price.
“This is your chance to own the FIRST ever NFT from legendary bass player George Porter Jr. (The Meters) and acclaimed artist JT Lucchesi and Home Team Designs,” reads an official description. Whoever purchases the art – priced at 5.04 ETH or $8,309.76 – will also receive “an autographed poster of the album cover and a once in a lifetime opportunity to have ‘Coffee With George’. That’s right you will get a private meet and great with George!”
