On Mar. 12, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that New York is banning all gatherings of more than 500 people to attempt to curb the spread of coronavirus. Events such as Broadway shows, concerts and public functions will be canceled.
The ban will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 12 for Broadway theaters; for other venues, it will begin on Friday, Mar. 13 at 5 p.m.
Prior to this ban, New York venues such as The Capitol Theatre had already announced cancelations of shows. Bands and festivals all over the country are postponing events and halting ticket sales. Gov. Cuomo’s ban will of course lead to the postponement or cancelation of many more shows shows in New York.
