When she’s not on the road with Ghost Light, Holly Bowling can be found converting some of music’s most complicated arrangements into full piano odysseys.
Today, with the help of TELEFUNKEN’s Live From The Lab Video Series, Bowling releases live versions of Phish’s “Taste” as well as the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young anti-war anthem “Ohio.”
The latter tune finds Bowling diving into the inner workings of her grand piano, plucking and raking at strings to add a unique, eerie quality to the rock and roll classic.
“Texture, nuance, and a gift for dexterous high-wire improvisation are the hallmarks of San Francisco-based classically trained pianist Holly Bowling, who infuses jam band music with a technically advanced, emotionally rich style,” reads one video description.
