John Scofield has gone to great lengths to support his hometown community of Westchester, NY in recent years. Most notably, each summer he hosts a regular series at Katonah, NY’s Katonah Museum of Art featuring the likes of Dena Derosa and Lettuce. When Eric Krasno was unable to make the latter gig, Scofield even subbed on guitar in the jazz/funk band. Now, the guitarist will help the Westchester Jazz Orchestra kick off its annual season. Scofield will join the orchestra for an evening of music at Irvington, NY’s Irvington Town Hall Theater that focuses on his original compositions. Sco will also lead a pre-concert talk with patrons before the show. He will perform with the Piety Street Band at Willisau, Switzerland’s Willisau Festival this Saturday.
