Dragon Smoke first came together in 2003 during the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. There the project debuted at the Dragon’s Den, where the Galactic rhythm section of Stanton Moore and Robert Mercurio were joined by Dumpstaphunk’s Ivan Neville, who shared vocals with guitarist Eric Lindell. The group has regular reassembled during Jazz Fest but has found time for some occasional additional gigs as well. In early December, Dragon Smoke will pick up three California dates. The group will first appear at Moe’s Alley in Santa Cruz on December 3, then travel to The Independent in San Francisco on Friday the 4th, followed by a date at Sebastopol’s the Hopmonk Tavern on December 5. The quartet will later appear early in January 2010 aboard Jam Cruise.
