Soulive is in the midst of recording a Beatles cover record for a spring 2010 (shades of Booker T & The MGs’ McLemore Avenue, which offered instrumental versions of the songs on Abbey Road). This past weekend, Soulive offered a taste of what is to follow during two nights. On Friday in Washington D.C at Night Of The Living Zoo, Soulive performed two sets of originals and then appeared in Beatles costumes to deliver their versions of “Get Back,” “In My Life,” “Come Together,” “Something In The Way She Moves,” “Eleanor Rigby” and “I Want You.” On Saturday at Charlotte’s Neighborhood Theater the trio also added “Drive My Car” to their Beatles set. The trio will likely offer up some these songs when they return to the U.S. for a few December dates after their November U.K. tour.
