New York Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain sat in with The Roots last night. Before the final game of the World Series Wednesday, comedian Jimmy Fallon made a bet with the Philadelphia-bred ensemble (who are the house band on his late-night program) that if the Yankees won a member of the ball team would sit in with the band. The Roots made good on its promise last night on The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon by inviting out Chamberlain to play keys on a cover of Jay-Z’s New York-anthem “Empire State of Mind.” As he took the stage with the band, Chamberlain turned a Yankees logo on ?uestlove’s drum kit—which had been positioned upside down to look like a why symbol—right side up. The program also featured musical guest Yoko Ono and her Plastic Ono Band, which included both Sean Lennon and producer Mark Ronson.
