The members of Animal Collective will celebrate the Guggenheim Museum’s 50th Anniversary with a special site-specific performance on Thursday, March 4. The group will collaborate with experimental visual artist Danny Perez on an original work titled “Transverse Temporal Gyrus.” The Guggenheim rotunda will be cleared of art objects for the first time in the museum’s history and transformed into “a kinetic, psychedelic environment.” The work will feature original recorded music along with video projections, costumes and props, rendering the band members and performers into intense, visual abstractions. The performance will run continuously from 9 pm to midnight and guests are invited to wander the museum rotunda and ramps to fully immerse themselves in the experience.
