Garth Hudson played organ and saxophone in Ronnie Hawkins’ band from 1961 to 1963. Hawkins’ backing band spun off on its own after that—playing under various names and backing Bob Dylan before recording simply as The Band. Hudson and Hawkins have shared the stage a few times over the years, including at The Band’s famed performance for The Last Waltz. The two musicians will come together this summer for a performance at Ronnie Hawkins All-Star Jam. The show will take place on August 12 in Dogs Nest ON as part of Dogs Nest at Dover’s 13th Bike Rally. Other acts schedule to perform include: Bad Company, Colin Linden, The Sadies, John Till and B.W. Pawley and Plum Loco.
