On October 11, 1971 Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention made their debut performance at New York City’s Carnegie Hall. Now, for the first time, that show and the one from the following night are being offered by the Zappa Family Trust as a four disc set available for pre-sale via Zappa’s website. These shows, originally recorded by Warner Bros. with the Mothers lineup featuring Mark Volman, Howard Kaylan, Ian Underwood, Don Preston, Jim Pons & Aynsley Dunbar, have been traded amongst diehard Zappa fans for years. But on the upcoming release, the recordings have been newly remastered with the Zappa family matriarch’s seal of approval. “We tweaked and we tweezed and did everything possible to be certain this does not sound like a breakfast cereal gone mad somewhere in the Van Allen Belt,” says Gail Zappa. “I am happy to say The Mud Shark Legend Continues.”
