While Widespread Panic is off the road, percussionist Sunny Ortiz will play a number of shows around his Athens, GA hometown. In addition to a previously confirmed appearance with Ike Stubblefield & Friends at the Georgia Theatre (5/18) and a guest spot at the Tibbet’s Fun Raising Festival (6/3), Ortiz will perform with Adam Klein on May 23during his residency at Hendershot’s. Klein—the brains behind Cowboy Angel Music and co-founder of Athens Americana Festival—will play Hendershot’s every Wednesday in May with a rotating cast of musicians. On May 23, Klein will perform songs from his Malian album Dungu Wolo with Ortiz and and percussionist Jim Wilson.
