Z3 is a Frank Zappa tribute project featuring Kung Fu/The Breakfast guitarist Tim Palmeri, Alan Evans Trio organist Beau Sasser and Max Creek/Melvin Sparks/Miracle Orchestra drummer Bill Carbone. On Friday, the three musicians performed at Northampton, MA’s Iron Horse Music Hall. During their set, Alan Evans emerged to sing with the group. The Soulive drummer sang on Jeff Simmons’ “Lucille Has Messed My Mind Up,” a song that was originally produced by Frank Zappa. Onetime Zappa percussionist Ed Mann also sat in throughout the entire show.
