Chef Ray Sewell was the longtime touring chef for the Grateful Dead. He is now building on that connection though Chez Ray’s Headliners’ Organic Coffee featuring his new “organic, fair trade, kosher, culturally authentic, Epicurean coffee roasts.” He is working with Paul Thornton of Coffee Bean International (CBI) to fashion suitable roasts that reflect “Chez Ray’s memories of the spirit and characteristics of personal relationships and history with the artists.” The first four varieties associated with the Grateful Dead are: Drop Dead Dark Roast, Morning Brew, Load Out, and Turn on Your Love Light Roasts. Chez Ray has also created Wavy Gravy’s Rainbow Roast, and SEVA Foundation’s Compassion Roast. Additional details and ordering info can be found at the Chez Ray site.
