
Phil Lesh assembled a cast of Friends to perform a very special show in Grateful Dead history last night at The Capitol Theater in Port Chester, NY. Joining Lesh for a recreation of the band’s February 19, 1971 from the same venue were David Nelson, Barry Sless, Scott Law, John Molo, Jason Crosby.
The show is significant for a number of reasons, as it was released as Three from the Vault in 2007. The 1971 show features the very first performances of “Bird Song” and “Deal” as well as the second performances of “Loser,” “Bertha,” “Playing in the Band,” “Greatest Story Ever Told” and “Wharf Rat.” The show was the second of a six-night run at the venue.
Lesh returns to the Capitol Theatre tonight.
