On December 5, the annual Rex Foundation benefit show will return to the Fillmore in San Francisco. The event, which is titled Love Will See You Through, will feature two sets from a special version of Grahame Lesh and Friends. Phil Lesh was a longtime advocate for Rex and as the organization notes, “This is a full-circle moment, as Grahame lends his support to Rex in the same way his dad, a founder of Rex, did so many times.”
This version of Grahame Lesh and Friends will draw together a number of musicians who coalesced around Terrapin Crossroads. John Molo will serve as the drummer. Barry Sless and Stu Allen will appear on guitar. Holly Bowling will contribute keys. Elliott Peck will lend her vocals to the cause. In addition, Grahame will perform on bass, playing one of his father’s instruments.
The Foundation notes, “This year has been remarkable for Rex in important ways. We have felt deep loss, yet we have found strength in our mission, the music we love, and the community we are a part of. One of our strongest sources of support has been the outpouring of musicians and friends who wanted to help keep Rex vibrant and a force for good. We have received donations from many new friends. Many bands and musicians have held benefits, from shows that donate a dollar per ticket to Rex, to the show we held at the Greek Theatre this past August with Dark Star Orchestra. The Rex community does all of this with a sense of love and positivity that is empowering and enduring. Our community also continues to grow through the new grantees we meet each year, and we celebrate them and their work.”
The evening will include a pre-show reception and a silent auction with tickets now on sale.
