After the success of this past fall’s four-night stint with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros have followed up by confirming three new dates, slated for Feb. 17 through 19. The new shows will see the Grateful Dead legend and his band perform alongside the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra at the Atlanta Symphonic Hall.
The upcoming shows will once more see Weir team up with Don Was, Jay Lane and Jeff Chimenti, as well as his Wolfpack collaborators: Alex Kelly, Brian Switzer, Adam Theis, Mads Tolling and Sheldon Brown, along with Barry Sless on pedal steel.
Each night of the impending stand will offer a unique set featuring hits from the expansive Grateful Dead catalog, Weir’s solo albums and more. Stanford professor Dr. Giancarlo Aquilanti will provide original orchestration.
“Like all of what we do, this is a work in progress,” offered Weir. “We’re working up more songs, and many sections will be rendered differently. Basically, this is what we were imagining when we were playin’ these back when—and yet, there’s still room for imagination—and that’s where we’ll go next with it…”
The newly added dates arrive after Weir returns from Dead & Company’s annual Playing in the Sand event in Cancún, Mexico, Mexico. The four-night destination event will occur from Jan. 14 through 17, and will once more see Weir share the stage with Bill Kreutzmann, Mickey Hart, John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge and Chimenti, prior to their final tour, which kicks off on May 19 at The Forum in Los Angeles.
Artist pre-sale begins this Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 10 a.m. local time. Sign-up for early access to tickets now. General on-sale begins this Friday, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m. local time.
