Dead & Company treated Indiana fans to mid-week, Sept. 15 show at the beloved Deer Creek – now known as the Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center – and they were sure to serve up a memorable second set.
The show kicked off with “Feel Like A Stranger” and the bend went on to later offer two tour debuts: “If I Had The World To Give” (with bassist Oteil Burbridge on lead vocals) and Bob Dylan’s “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” (led by Bob Weir).
As previously mentioned, however, the band’s second set was really the main attraction, beginning with a standout, John Mayer-led “Sugaree” jam.
From there, “Dark Star” made its first appearance of the evening, and the band worked through “St. Stephen”> “William Tell Bridge”> “The Eleven”> “Drums”> “Space” (complete with a tease of John Coltrane’s “A Love Supreme”) before “Dark Star” emerged once again.
After that cerebral segment, the band added some lightness to the second half with a crowd-pleasing “Casey Jones.”
“Death Don’t Have No Mercy” and “Turn On You Love Light” closed the set, and the band slowed things down a bit for the encore, playing the always-emotional “Black Muddy River.”
Next up, Dead & Company will perform two shows at Chicago’s Wrigley Field on Sept. 17 and 18.
Check out the setlist and clips of each set-opener below:

September 19, 2021 at 11:30 amI showed my Covid VAX pass butthole tattoo and got right to the front of the segregated VAX only line for entry.
It was glorious, like Woodstock 69 again but for the vaccinated and all the Unvaxxed trash was segregated to the lawn. The glory hole in the vaccinated section bathrooms was the best until red rocks.

September 19, 2021 at 11:24 amSt.louis was the worst show I’ve ever seen! I did 4 years of Jerry tour and I feel like the platform that jerry provided is being taken advantage of and disgracing the Grateful Dead name. Give it up guys, u did ur jobs!

September 17, 2021 at 11:30 amTrue dat, lol, I meant outside of the COVEATING goin’ on. I’ve got a wicked trip planned to Arizona next month. Three events in four days. Dead and Company, and then Phish @ the Chinaman Pavilion, and then the Mighty Cardinals host the lowly Texans. Totally psyched, *Variant-Willing, w/ travel, pandemic, etc.

September 17, 2021 at 11:49 amLook, ok, so this band isn’t terrible; they play amazing songs. They are just flat and uninspiring (a little slow and tired) compared to the Grateful Dead. And am f’n old myself, this is just too slow. They were actually almost interesting in 2016-17. The cadence was a little faster and although I can’t stand they guy, John Mayer’s arrogance helped him avoid most ques from the band allowing the music to move and forcing “Mr slow-mo” (Bobby-Weir) into playing.

The Long Run
September 17, 2021 at 2:56 amJohn “the cunt” Mayer does not belong in the same sentence with the two people mentioned in the next sentence. Jerry Garcia took a little walk with John Coltrane.
