After a successful livestream for Chinese New Year, Bob Weir will assemble his Wolf Bros – bassist Don Was, drummer Jay Lane and special auxiliary players Jeff Chimenti and Greg Leisz – for a St. Patrick’s Day pay-per-view celebration on March 17 via FANS.
“St. Patrick’s Day evening will be filled with plenty o’ music thanks to Bob Weir and Wolf Bros, featuring Bob Weir, Don Was, and Jay Lane,” reads an official announcement. “The band celebrates the magic holiday by playing LIVE from TRI Studios with Jeff Chimenti, Greg Leisz, and special guests The Wolf Pack.”
Just as they appeared on Weir’s previous streams, the aforementioned Wolf Pack will feature a mix of strings and horns to bring the Grateful Dead/Weir songbook to new heights.
Tune in on Wednesday, March 17 at 6 p.m. ET / 9 p.m. PT.

March 4, 2021 at 1:35 pmI can’t say express how much the addition of the lap pedal steel guitar really does it for me. It totally makes that Bakersfield lonesome country sound that suits so much of Weir’s song list. Jerry played a sweet lap pedal steel, notably in New Riders of the Purple Sage. I put a lot of miles on that 1st NRPS… album, 8 track, cassette and CD. Still love it. Bring it Bobby.

March 4, 2021 at 8:48 amWolf Bros as a trio didn’t really work well for me, Bob needs a lead instrument to round things out – I was pleasantly surprised with the last live stream he did – it was damn good!

March 4, 2021 at 9:13 amNailed it on the head, US. I too was not very enamored with the trio (saw it in Boston a few years ago and was not overly impressed). I think adding Chimenti and friends is way better.
I do very much miss the Ratdog full band days. Hopefully this evolves back to that.

March 4, 2021 at 11:47 amI agree with US and Mole, the expanded band for Chinese New Year was really good, and I’m looking forward to the St. Patrick’s Day show!

March 3, 2021 at 8:19 pmtime for a go fund me page for poor Pirlo, so he can afford a simple twenty dollar stream…..
but you wouldn’t want it, (save the bother of typing a reply of same) you just feel a need to actually bitch about Bob’s foray for St. Patty’s day, which I was actually happy to read, and may in fact indulge in. Pirlo: sounds like you need your Biden-Check, and in a hurry. Sheeeesh.

March 4, 2021 at 8:30 amhas nothing to do with politics, be it Biden or Trump. Just a simple live stream which seems to upset Pirlo. Perhaps a DEAD hater. The amount of them piling on Bob and Phil continues to amaze me. But this are the days of hate not the days of tolerance and understanding

March 3, 2021 at 5:41 pmTime to pony up $20 Dead Heads. Bob’s tax bill is on the way. Imagine charging someone $20 for a “Live” stream all the while acting like they are doing you a huge favor!
Jim
March 4, 2021 at 6:50 amWhy? Are YOU entitled to a free show? As if numerous other “Live Streams” are not free. Its a choice, be it Dead Heads or for any other band. Don’t want to pay? Don’t. YOU won’t be missed. Turning it one in one’s own living place, a frig nearby for cheap beers and snacks, and no bathroom lines has great appeal. A 20 buck live stream saves me money rather than the money for a live concert. I need cash for my property taxes also. The hate for the Dead who haven’t died amazes me.

March 4, 2021 at 11:59 amHEAR HEAR Jim, I’m amazed as well. Can’t wait to read the vitriol and garbage on the “TREY’s Gift to a Substance Abuse Re-Hab Center” which will no doubt occur. It’s actually very apt to this post on Wolf Bros. I hope the idiots will realize that Trey clearly stated that i) Proceeds from the Beacon Jams were $1.2mm (which amazes me, in that many people purchased them), and ii) He used all of it, and I am sure more of his own money, to do something great in Vermont.

March 4, 2021 at 3:38 pmDead Head clowns constantly cry & ask why majority of PHISH fans hate the dead…Trey just answered that…People & Community over profits. Trey & his Beacon run-100% Free. Keep crying your tears are so sweet! LOL!!
