After sustaining a major wrist injury and launching a GoFundMe to help pay for his extensive surgery, Dark Star Orchestra guitarist Rob Eaton has shared an update with fans, sharing gratitude for their financial support.
“Large and small, I can’t tell you how touched I am by the outpouring of support,” Eaton said. “I can’t obviously write to you all and thank you all personally, so for now this will have to do.”
News broke last week that the longtime DSO guitarist fractured the ulna and radius in his left wrist after slipping at a swimming pool, and while he is set to make a full recovery and return to his instrument, he’s now strapped with a $75,000 medical bill.

February 17, 2021 at 3:35 pmI think the point is that Rob probably has more money than a lot of the folks he’s hitting up. There’s no excuse for not having health insurance in this day and age, but that $75,000 is probably not the total cost of the surgery, rehab, etc. There’s usually some out-of-pocket expenses.
Hey F Robs wrist..
February 16, 2021 at 8:32 pmSpeak about what you know, just cause they’re an llc doesn’t give them cheap insurance. Cheap comes with volume. To all, give it a rest. If people want to help someone that gave them hours of enjoyment that’s there business. Really, bashing people for being nice,…WOW

February 16, 2021 at 6:03 pmBrah DSO has played over 2500 shows with Rob as Bobby or Jerry. If he didn’t save any money to make it a year plus some that’s 100% on him. I’m sure DSO is an litterally an LLC and can get super cheap group insurance, this is why this is so puzzling. You are a sucker if you gave him a dime

February 17, 2021 at 8:00 amInsurance it not the biggest money concer. Not playing, selling few actual CDS and living off live shows pays the bills. Be it health, housing, food transportation etc. A band that has done numerous benefits, allows taping for the trading of shows has done quite well for their fans. A little support during hard times is not much to ask. DSO wasn’t allowed to replace their income stopped because of the pandemic, like BIG airlines were, along with many other businesses with YOUR tax dollars.

February 16, 2021 at 1:25 pmYour band has played more show than the band you cover. You either didn’t have insurance or made a bad decision. Act like a fing man and pay your bills you certainly have the money.
