Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit continued their run of co-headlining shows with Father John Misty on Sunday evening at the Les Schwab Amphitheater in Bend, OR, and the frontman welcomed his former Drive-By Truckers bandmate, Patterson Hood, for a couple songs at the end of the performance.
Following a set that featured Isbell staples like “24 Frames,” “Last of My Kind,” “Flying Over Water” and the “If We Were Vampires,” the group welcomed out Hood—an Oregon resident—for the Truckers tune “Outfit,” which appeared on the band’s 2003 album, Decoration Day, and a cover of The Rolling Stones classic “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking.” Though Isbell and Hood had a falling out around Isbell’s departure from the Truckers, the two have reconciled and shared the stage in recent years.
Check out the full setlist below. Next up for Isbell and company is a show this Friday, June 14, in Minneapolis. See the band’s full schedule here.

June 12, 2019 at 8:59 pm2001 – 2006 DBT was a serious force to be reckoned with. When Jason, Patterson, & Mike fronted the band, it was some of the best rock & roll I’ve ever seen out of 2000+ shows. The song writing, guitar work, and straight up performance talent was so F’n good.
“Decoration Day,” “The Dirty South,”& “A Blessing and a Curse” are still great listens. The 3 of them pushed and challenged each other. There’s only room for so many songs on an album, and each one of them knew they had to bring their best work if they wanted to be heard/included.
Their live shows were ALWAYS a serious party (both the audience and DBT.) Those guys would get shit faced often; no red Solo cups … pulls right from the 1.75 ml JD jug. Saw approx. 25 performances during Jason’s time in the band. Witnessed them draw bigger and bigger audiences in that 5 yr. run (e.g. 165 capacity Schuba’s CHI, IL NYE 2001 > 1400 sold out Vic Theater CHI, IL Spring Tour closer 2006.) Can’t think of any “let downs”/disappointing shows.
That Vic 2006 throw down was one of my all time favorite performances by any band; 3.5 hrs. straight dirty South guitarmageddon.

June 13, 2019 at 1:01 pmDBT was the best band on the planet in 2004, hands down. First show 10/15/2004 at The Bluebird in Denver – I was hooked. Off the wall, on fire band that neither Jason solo or DBT can duplicate. I still think Hood/Cooley bring out the best in Jason. Would love to see a double bill.

June 12, 2019 at 11:56 amJason Isbell is my favorite songwriter right now and his album ‘Southeastern’ might be my favorite of the past 10 years. He puts on a great live show, but my only complaint is they’re too short. He has a lot of great material and I wish he’d stretch his shows with maybe another set and half a dozen more songs.
