Bernie Worrell & the Woo Warriors will kick off their spring tour tomorrow at Lynagh’s Music Club in Lexington, KY. The band will be touring in support of its new live album, True Dat, which features material recorded at The Conduit in Trenton, NJ, the North Star Bar in Philadelphia and various venues in New York City. The tour includes stops in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Rhode Island, New York, Virginia, Florida, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Michigan and Massachusetts, where the group will perform August 2 and 3 at The Muse in Nantucket.
‘I’m extremely happy to finally be able to take my band out for some extended
road work,’ says Worrell. ‘They’re as funky as any musicians I’ve ever worked with, and they
can play all different kinds of music. They’re able to follow me on stage
whenever I go into some other orbit, and have nothing but fun in the process.’
The band will also release a live concert DVD later this summer, the first of two upcoming video releases.
