The Rolling Stones have just confirmed plans for a North American tour beginning in September. The band, which arrived to today’s press conference via blimp, made the announcement earlier this afternoon at New York’s Van Cortland Park. The tour will include venues of all sizes – stadiums, arenas, theaters and clubs many in the same city. For example, in Chicago the group will play September 10 at the United Center, September 13 at Comiskey Park and September 16 at Aragon Ballroom. In the New York area, the band will perform September 26 at Madison Square Garden, September 28 at Giants Stadium and September 30 at Roseland Ballroom. In Los Angeles, The Stones will take the stage October 31 at the Staples Center, November 2 at Edison Field and November 4 at the Wiltern Theatre. The tour kicks off with two shows in the Boston area: September 5 at CMGI Field and September 8 at the Orpheum Theatre. The shows will include greatly varied setlists, some with special themes. The bands line-up will include Mick Jagger (vocals), Keith Richards (guitar), Ron Wood (guitar), Charlie Watts (drums), Chuck Leavell (keyboards), and Darryl Jones (bass). The tour will also be documented for a future DVD.
Look for an interview with Chuck Leavell later this month on Jambands.com.
