Baltimores 8 X 10 Club, now in its 20th year, has announced the schedule for its Farewell Celebration Month. The venue will close its doors on August 3, although new owner Kelly Rather plans to upgrade the sound system and reopen the venue under a different name this fall. The final schedule includes George Porter Jr. (7/19), Acoustic Syndicate (7/25), Lake Trout (7/28), Deep Banana Blackout (7/30), The Radiators (8/1) and The Jarflys (8/3).
Bands that have graced the 8 X 10 stage over the years include Phish, Billy Joel, the Dave Matthews Band, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Sugar Ray, Los Lobos, String Cheese Incident, 311, Godsmack, Widespread Panic, Suzanne Vega and Bo Diddley, to name a few. They’ve accomplished a lot at the 8 × 10 over two decades,’ says Rather. ‘It’s the end in one sense, but the continuation in another.’
All Mighty Senators and special guest George Porter Jr. perform tonight. For details, visit www.the8×10.net.
