Drummer Bill Kreutzmann performed with Phil & Friends this weekend. Kreutzmann (Grateful Dead) joined the band Saturday at Tweeter Center in Camden, NJ in first set for St. Stephen -> Not Fade Away -> St. Stephen -> Casey Jones. Saxophonist Greg Osby joined the group for the entire second set. Kreutzmann returned last night at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD for much of the first set, which included Crazy Fingers -> Uncle Johns Band -> Playin In The Band -> Keep On Growin.
Kreutzmann and Lesh will perform together again August 3 and 4 at Terrapin Station: A Grateful Dead Family Reunion at Alpine Valley. The line-up also includes Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Jimmy Herring, Rob Barraco and Jeff Chimenti. Phil has released the following statement regarding the shows:
‘I want to thank everyone for their support and enthusiasm this summer. I am thrilled that we are able to proceed with Terrapin Station at Alpine Valley (please remember, it is very important that you do not come to Alpine without a ticket). I had a blast playing with Mickey at our shows last week and I guarantee that our upcoming shows with Billy and Bobby will be very special.’
Phil & Friends play tomorrow at nTelos Pavilion in Portsmouth, VA. For more dates, visit www.phillesh.net.
