Saxophonist Peter Apfelbaum and keyboardist Pete Sears each performed with the Steve Kimock Band at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City this weekend. On Saturday, Apfelbaum (Hieroglyphics Ensemble, Trey Anastasio) joined at the end of set two, for The Long Form (part IV) and You’re The One. At last months Berkshire Mountain Music Festival, Apfelbaum performed with the group for the majority of its set, as guitarist Mitch Stein was on tour in Europe.
Friday night, Sears (Hot Tuna, Jefferson Starship) took the stage at the end of the show for Hillbillies on PCP. Kimock and Pete have played together several times in the past, including earlier this month for Steve Kimock and Friends, which included drummer Rodney Holmes, bassist Reed Mathis and guitarist Sonny Landreth.
SKB returns to action this Friday, October 3, at the State Theater in Falls Church, VA. For details, visit www.kimock.com.
