Special guests took the stage with MVVP last night at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill last night in New York City. Keyboardist Ivan Neville (Keith Richards, Bonnie Raitt) took the stage for Just Kissed My Baby, which segued in and out of Love the One You With. Saxophonist Cochemea Gastelum (Robert Walters 20th Congress) joined in for the latter part of that jam, which closed the first set. Both Cheme and saxophonist Sam Kininger (Soulive) began the second set for Galactics Sprung Monkey -> Third Stone from the Sun.
MVVP consists of drummer Stanton Moore and keyboardist Rich Vogel of Galactic, bassist George Porter Jr. (The Meters) and drummer Johnny Vidocovich (Astral Project).
Later in the evening, Moore, Gastelum, Vidocovich and Kininger headed over to Tobacco Road to perform with Benevento/Russo (featuring Marco Benevento and Joe Russo). Stanton emerged for Impact and Led Zeppelins Moby Dick. Vidocovich and Kininger then joined for Selmas March and Gastelum stepped in for an extended instrumental vamp.
