A number of musicians joined in the action with Galactic at the Warfield Theater on December 31. The Triple Threat DJ’s who performed at the show, appeared at the outset of the second set for ‘Doo Rag.’ Skerik who had gigged with the Les Claypool Frog Brigade at the Fillmore earlier in the evening, arrived during the second set and took the stage with Galactic during ‘Baker’s Dozen,’ ‘Roof Down’ and ‘Quiet Please’ (Mike Dillon, Skerik’s Critters Buggin bandmate also appeared on percussion during these songs). In addition, Rob Wasserman added bass to ‘Sprung Monkey.’
In other Galactic news, Todd Atschuler has taken top honors in the Galactic NFL Pool competition, easily besting 400 competitors with 137 correct picks against the spread via ESPN’s Pigskin Pick ‘em. Jambands.com editor Dean Budnick finished 51st. Atschuler wins a Grand Prize package that includes two tickets to a Galactic Mardi Gras, Jazzfest and Spring Tour show of your choice. Budnick wins nothing.
