The four surviving members of The Grateful Dead – Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann – played an impromptu acoustic set in San Francisco on Monday. A few songs were played, including Friend of the Devil, in front of the bands former residence at 710 Ashbury Street. The performance was videotaped by 60 Minutes II for an upcoming segment on The Dead, hosted by Charlie Rose. While a specific airdate has not yet been set, it will be broadcast later this fall on CBS.
Monday marked the birthday of original Grateful Dead keyboardist Ron ‘Pigpen’ McKernan, who died in 1973.
