Trey Anastasio’s next solo disc will be released a month early. While it is titled Seis de Mayo (May 6th) Elektra will issue it on the 6th of April. The disc will contain instrumental material recorded over the past few years with a variety of combos. For instance the orchestral arrangement of ‘Guyute’ initially performed by the Vermont Youth Orchestra is presented by Seattlemusic, a 66-piece orchestra. ‘Prologue’ has been extracted from ‘Pebbles and Marbles’ and returned to its original form as scored by the guitarist in his basement. ‘All Things Reconsidered,’ appears as a fugue for a string quartet. ‘Andre the Giant’ which opens Seis, features Mike Gordon on bass along with percussionists on djembe and balifon.
Meanwhile, Phish has started on its next disc, to be produced and engineered by Tchad Blake (Cibo Matto, Crowded House, Bonnie Raitt) with a likely June release.
